Hong Kong and Shanghai Twin-Centre - 8 Nights

Victoria Peak and the Star Ferry, then the Bund and Pudong, with long-haul flights and 4-star hotels.

Experience two of Asia's most electrifying cities on this eight-night twin-centre holiday with Skylord Travel. Start with four nights in Hong Kong, riding the historic Peak Tram up Victoria Peak, crossing the harbour on the Star Ferry and watching the skyline light up each evening. Explore steaming dim sum houses, the stalls of Temple Street Night Market and the giant Tian Tan Buddha on Lantau Island.

Then fly on to Shanghai, or travel by high-speed bullet train as an upgrade, for four nights in China's most cosmopolitan city. Stroll the colonial waterfront of the Bund, gaze up at Pudong's futuristic towers, wander the classical Yu Garden and the plane-tree-lined streets of the former French Concession. Long-haul flights, Shanghai airport transfers and 4-star hotels are all arranged for you.

Board your overnight flight from the UK to Hong Kong. Flights from London take around 12 to 13 hours and Hong Kong is seven or eight hours ahead of the UK, so settle in for dinner, a film and some rest on board before arriving the next day.

Arrive in Hong Kong and make your way to your 4-star hotel for a 4-night stay. In the evening, head to the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront to watch the Symphony of Lights show across Victoria Harbour. Hong Kong's excellent MTR metro, trams and ferries make it easy to get around. An Octopus card works on almost all transport.

Hong Kong

The picturesque Hong Kong skyline is of Victoria Harbour and the waterfront on Hong Kong Island. Take the tram up to Victoria Peak on the Hills behind the Skyscrapers of Hong Kong Island for magnificent views. The iconic Star Ferry links Hong Kong Island to Kowloon where you can experience local life in the varied and separate street markets.

Cosmo Hotel Hong Kong

Conveniently situated between Wan Chai and Causeway Bay opposite Queen Elizabeth Stadium, the Cosmo Hotel is a stylish boutique hotel with a unique colour concept. Guests are offered a variety of excellent services and amenities, amongst others a complimentary shuttle service to the Times Square mega shopping mall, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Pacific Place and other places of interest. The shopping and entertainment venues of Causeway Bay are within easy walking distance. This hotel is ideal for business travellers and holidaymakers alike. In line with new regulations by the Hong Kong Government, hotels will no longer provide complimentary disposable plastic toiletries in guest rooms. Guests are encouraged to bring their own reusable items. However, if you've forgotten any essentials, they are available for purchase at HK$1 at the Front Desk.

Ride the Peak Tram up Victoria Peak for sweeping views over the skyscrapers and harbour, then cross to Kowloon on the historic Star Ferry. Explore the street markets of Mong Kok and finish at Temple Street Night Market. Arrive at the Peak in the late afternoon to see the view by day and as the city lights come on.

Glide over Lantau Island on the Ngong Ping 360 cable car to the Tian Tan Buddha and the Po Lin Monastery. In the afternoon, explore Central's escalators, antique shops and temples on Hollywood Road. Check the Ngong Ping 360 schedule before travelling, as the cable car occasionally closes for maintenance.

Spend the day at your own pace: take a dim sum brunch, visit the M+ museum in West Kowloon or take a ferry to an outlying island for seafood by the water. Hong Kong is a shopper's paradise, from the luxury malls of Central to the street markets of Kowloon.

Head to Hong Kong airport for your flight of around two and a half hours to Shanghai (or take the high-speed train if you chose that upgrade), then transfer to your 4-star hotel for a 4-night stay. Please check passport and entry requirements for mainland China before you travel.

The Shanghai Tower is China's tallest building, and its observation deck offers dizzying views on a clear day.

Enjoy a final breakfast, then transfer to Shanghai Pudong airport for your flight home to the UK.
